The “Wish ‧ Wood” Scheme encourages students to use their creativity to transform recycled wood into reusable and beautiful objects, and these hands-on experiences allow them to appreciate the value of upcycling old wood and the fun of creative design.
This year, a total of 6 green tours were organized. Student studying for Higher Diploma in Conservation and Tree Management of the Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education (IVE) led the participants into the North District Park to learn about local precious tree species and visit the only timber processing factory — Chi Kee Timber Factory, to understand the relationship between local trees and urban life.
This year's "Wish·Wood" Scheme has come to a successful conclusion! A total of 15,000 sets of "Wish·Wood" Kit have been donated to 50 primary and secondary schools! Students creatively used recycled wooden plates to make pen barrels, mobile phone holders, photo frames, etc., and some even took advantage of the festive season to make Christmas decorations, adding warmth to the whole project!
