The students of Wood Workshop for Youth Class B have successfully "graduated"! After careful guidance from the instructor, the students have mastered the basic skills of carpentry. They also used teamwork at the end of the class to do the final steps of screwing and polishing the treasure box together. These 12 treasure boxes and other wooden products will be delivered to those in need. From learning, making to donating, the whole process is so loving!
During the two-month course, they made Luban locks, tissue boxes, and multi-functional treasure chests, which will later be given out to Christian Action, Methodist Church Aldrich Bay Integrated Children & Youth Services, and Hong Kong Christian Service!
The Wooden One-string Guitar Workshop on 20/8 has been successfully completed. Our tutor Norman (stemhomehk.wixsite.com) teaches everyone to use recycled wooden bed boards, combined with tin cans such as moon cake tins, cookie boxes, to creating an environmentally friendly one-string guitar that looks good and can be played. It turns out that besides guitars, there are many musical instruments that can be made from environmentally friendly materials. Norman played a piece of music impromptu with the shepherd's flute made from discarded water pipes, everyone finds it amazing! In the end, everyone formed an environmental protection band on the spot, played "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" with the One-string Guitar made by themselves.
Our first round Taster Workshops on 20 August has been successfully completed. Our tutor Norman teaches everyone to use recycled wood to create a unique and very personal pull-back boat, everyone got so excited when their boat passed the water test! Norman also shared other eco-friendly gadgets he designed, participants can also try out the Popsicle Stick Pistol on the spot, Recycled Wooden Bows and Arrows, Table tennis rackets made from red wine wooden boxes, etc. While everyone had fun, we all learned how to integrate environmental protection and upgrading into life.
Class A & D students made Treasure Chest for grassroots applying for Caritas Jockey Club 'One More Lap' program, and was donated by our representatives in early August, special thanks to the professional colleagues from Caritas Computer Workshop for helping with the delivery. At first glance, the treasure chest looks like an ordinary briefcase, in fact, there is a world inside! 1) There is a card slot design inside, which can be used to place laptops, tablets, mobile phones, books, stationery, etc. 2) The storage space is sufficient, and movable partitions are provided for more flexible storage 3) It is also a multi-purpose workbench, which can be transformed into a laptop computer desk, desk or dining table 4) It is equipped with a magnetic suction LED light, which can be charged with USB, and the light tone and brightness can be adjusted.
